What is your life’s style?
-
Have you ever thought about it?
-
Have you ever thought about what it is you spend most of your time thinking about and doing?
That is your practice. You don’t have to be a doctor to have a practice. You can have a practice of any sort. It can be constructive or it can be destructive or somewhere in between. Whatever your practice the most makes you what you are. If you practice goodness then you will become good. If you spend your time focusing on the negative you will become that. It’s not rocket science. It is your personal life style.
Sometimes you can control what you practice. This is your “discipline”. A good example is meditation on a consistent basis. I think your “discipline” forces you to grow, to evolve, and to elevate. At other times you just gravitate towards something out of curiosity, need or desire. It’s much like water taking that path of least resistance. I also think what you are naturally drawn towards takes you on a ride of self-discovery that has its ups and its downs. This isn’t always what you might consider wholesome or positive yet in the end it probably is a true and important learning experience. These two in combination create your own unique life style. They make you what you are. They are what make two people from the same family take totally different paths.
How does this relate to holistic health? Quite a bit I can truly say. Our style or way of living affects us on all three basic levels of our lives. Perhaps more on one level than another but definitely how we think, live and observe may cause friction and friction causes stress and imbalance. Make the effort to practice peace. As the old advertising adage says, “You’ll be glad you did.”
